A Photography Workshop πŸ“·

Introduction :

Hello Everyone...  πŸ˜Š

This blog describes my photography workshop experience.

On 17th August, we had an awesome photography workshop titled " Imagination : The Art of See"   by Mr. Kaushik Ghelani at Department of English. Students of Life Science department also participated with us in the photography workshop.

In which famous wildlife photographer Mr. Kaushik Ghelani guided the students on "How to develop photography skills."

Mr. Kaushik Ghelani is wildlife photographer and film Maker.  Dhruv Bhatt inspired him a lot and Dhruv Bhatt gave him the name "Aranyak".

The workshop began with great anticipation. In which the anchoring was done by Trushali Dodia, student of the department of English,M.A. Sem.3 and the guest was welcomed verbally by  Avni Jani, student of the department of English,M.A. Sem.3 .Riya Bhatt, a student of M.A.Sem.1, welcomed him with a bouquet of flowers. Head of the department Prof. Dilip Barad Sir welcomed. The head of the English department, Prof. Dilip Barad sir also gave him a hearty welcome .

This photography workshop was divided into two sessions . In which in the first session Mr. Kaushik Ghelani guided us on how to develop photography skills and in the second session students were given practical work. Mr. Kaushik Ghelani then inspected the photos clicked by each student and guided them on how to improve them.

At the end of the workshop, the students who clicked the best photos were awarded prizes. In which our senior Avni Jani secured the first rank, second rank was secured by a student of  Department of Life Science and third rank was secured by our senior Drashti Joshi.

According to Mr. Kaushik Ghelani, we can explore the life around us through photography.

He says that , "Photography is a skill that describes how you see the world."

He also notes that, " photography is a creative work." And "Photography is always about learning."

He says that anyone can do photography, he just needs to have the knowledge of the equipment.

He also shares that , "The most important thing in photography is to choose your core genre of photography . "

Main mantra is , "Make your eyes A Camera. " i.e. Learn how to see the things.

Mr. Kaushik Ghelani taught us some rules of photography.

• Rules of Photography:

1. One third rule :

One third rule  is a composition guideline that places your subject in the left or right third of an image, leaving the other two thirds more open.

2. Golden Point :

The golden ratio is a composition guide. It helps to lead the viewer through the entire photo. The composition will be more pleasing and balanced for the human eye.

It is used for understanding archaeological site and aesthetic site.

3. Centre focus rule :

Centre focus is a single-point area to focus on your subject.

It is very useful for architecture click.

 4. Symmetry :

The dictionary states “the quality of being made up of exactly similar parts facing each other or around an axis.”

In photography symmetry appears when parts of your composition mirror other parts.

5. Geometric shapes :

Geometric photography focuses on the geometric lines, shapes, and patterns that exist in the world. In shapes we can see there is a multiple shape in one photograph.

6. Leading lines :

Leading lines refer to the lines that lead the viewer's eye from one part of the photo to another. We can see that there are lines everywhere around us.

8. Head room / Leading room :

Headroom refers specifically to the distance between the top of the subject's head and the top of the frame, to include the sense of space on both sides of the image.

9. Depth of field :

The distance between the closest and farthest elements in a scene that appear "acceptably sharp" in the image, It is called depth of field.

In simplest terms we can say that , "Depth of field is how much of your image is in focus."

10. Break the Rule :

You can break the rule to tell any story through a picture.

Sometimes it's okay to break rules for conveying a beautiful story.

These are rules which we learnt from the Workshop.

Here are some glimpses of Workshop : ✨

I also clicked some photos in the practical session of the workshop, from which I am presenting only selected ones:

... Our flight to freedom ...

... O dear rain ! We Plants are eagerly waiting for you ...

... Even though you are a tiny flower, you have the ability to reach the sky ...

• Conclusion :

We really learned a lot from this workshop. I learned from this workshop that there is a photographer hidden inside you, he just needs training and real guidance. We feel grateful for being a part of such an enlightening workshop. I am very thankful to Prof. Dilip Bared Sir, who gave us such a great opportunity. I am also thankful to all the staff. And especially I am very grateful to Kaushik Ghelani sir who gave us such valuable knowledge and guided us to develop our skills.
